Zulfi Bukhari records statement to NAB

RAWALPINDI: Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari has recorded his statement before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Rawalpindi in a case pertaining to allegedly owning offshore companies in British Virgin Islands.

NAB authorities probed Bukhari for an hour. Speaking to media, Zulfi Bukhari maintained that he has not offered to tender his resignation

He claimed of not knowing NAB’s special prosecutor Imran Shafique, who tendered his resignation on Tuesday amid controversy that he was forced to leave the bureau.

Shafique was pursuing high-profile cases and cited his wish to join the Islamabad Bar Association as an “independent professional lawyer”.

Bukhari is also facing an inquiry by the National Accountability Bureau for assets beyond his known sources of income whereas a petition seeking his disqualification from PM’s adviser post is also under hearing in Supreme Court.
