BEIJING: According to Automotive News, Volkswagen wants to introduce a production version of the C Coupé GTE in China, where the sedan will become the manufacturer’s flagship low-emission saloon.
It this plan will gain momentum and continuity, the production version spawned by the concept is set to become one of the 15 locally-produced semi-green vehicles under VW Group’s belt. Engineers fitted the Coupé GTE with a 210 HP four-liter turbo TSI power plant working in tandem with a 124 HP (91 kW) electric motor, under the supervision of an 8-speed automatic transmission.
All in all, the power output is rated at 245 HP (180 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque, but that’s not what most Chinese buyers are looking for. Therefore, potential customers will most likely be interested in the 3,000 mm (118.7 in) wheelbase.
