LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to register vehicles on the premises of the vehicles’ showrooms whereas the licence plates would be issued to purchaser at the sale points from July 1, 2016.
However, the documents of vehicles will be sent to the Motor Registration Branch of the Excise and Taxation Department for issuance of registration book.
It is learnt that the government is demolishing registration book and making a plan to issue smart card instead of registration book. The staff of the Motor Registration Branch will stay in showrooms and will issue number plates to purchasers. The new vehicles will be handed over to the owners with number plates.
The staff will send file of documents to Motor Registration Branch for issuance of registration book or smart card.
