WASHINGTON: U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Highway 57 immigration checkpoint arrested one Mexican man for narcotics smuggling on Friday. “Drug trafficking organizations go to great lengths in the attempt to smuggle deadly narcotics into the United States,” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent of Del Rio Sector Matthew J. Hudak. “I commend those agents whose diligence averted these dangerous drugs from reaching our communities.”
U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station immigration checkpoint on Highway 57 seized 7.2 pounds of methamphetamine and 2.3 pounds of heroin, with a combined value of $250,276, hidden inside a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The driver, 37, was arrested for narcotics smuggling and turned over to the custody of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
