NEW YORK: A total of 82 bundles of marijuana were removed from a vehicle Tuesday. The contraband weighed 1,457 pounds and has a street value of $1,165,464.
Border Patrol agents assigned to the Hebbronville Border Patrol Station disrupted a drug smuggling attempt Tuesday while working their assigned duties.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m., when agents responded to suspicious activity along Texas 359. Agents attempted to pull over a vehicle but the driver refused to stop.
With the assistance from CBP Air and Marine Operations, agents were able to apprehend the driver. After a search of the vehicle, several bundles of narcotics were discovered.
The bundles tested positive for marijuana. A total of 82 bundles were removed from the vehicle. The contraband weighed 1,457 pounds and has a street value of $1,165,464.
The narcotics and driver was turned over to DEA.
“Through intelligence driven operations and continued interagency cooperation with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies we will continue to safeguard our community from cross border illicit activities,” said Chief Patrol Agent Mario Martinez.
