GRANDE CITY: Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station conducting line-watch duties near Rio Grande City, Texas, came upon an abandoned water buffalo. As the agents approached the water buffalo, they noticed a distinct smell of marijuana emitting from within the metal structure. Due to the lid of the container not being attached, agents were able to observe several bundles of marijuana in plain view.
No subjects were arrested or vehicles seized. The narcotics were transported to the Rio Grande City Station for further processing.
Marijuana Within Water BuffaloA total of 232 bricks of marijuana were seized with a total weight of 1,705 pounds with an estimated value of $1,364,206.
The narcotics will be turned over to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
