WASHINGTON: The unemployment rate reached 4.14% in September in Romania, down 0.06 percentage points compared to the previous month and down 0.63 percentage points over September 2016. The unemployment rate among men dropped to 4.37% in September, whereas the rate among women reached 3.88%, according to the National Workforce Occupation Agency – ANOFM.
About 362,000 unemployed people registered in the territorial employment agencies in September, but only 61,000 received unemployment benefits. The unemployment was higher in Romania’s villages – 255,600 of the unemployed were from rural areas, whereas some 106,400 were from cities. Almost 101,200 jobless were aged 40-49. People without studies and those with elementary studies had the highest share among the unemployed, according to ANOFM.
