Islamabad Capital Territory has seen a major fall in the crime rate over the past eight months. The crime rate has reportedly decreased by 35.03 percent in the capital city. Farishta Bibi murder case, a blind murder case, FIR No. 99/19 U/s 365-B, 302 PPC dated 19.05.2019 Police Station Shahzad Town was the challenging case for ICT Police, which was resolved and accused apprehended successfully.
According to a performance report of ICT Police, murder cases have reduced by 13 percent in the last eight months, as 73 murders have been reported between Nov. 1, 2018-June 30, 2019.
Furthermore, there has been a 49 percent decrease in kidnapping cases, 167 percent in robbery cases, 150 percent in burglaries, 129 percent in general theft, 27 percent in vehicle theft and motorcycle theft cases have decreased by 257 percent.
The report notes that VVIP movements, including Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Suleiman during 17-18 February 2019, Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Bin Muhammad during 22– 23 March 2019, Amir-e-Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani during 22-23 June 2019 and
Afghan president Ashraf Ghani on 27 June 2019, remained free of any untoward incident. The report also mentions that 13 religious rallies occurred in November 2018, 8 in December 2018, 13 in January 2019, 8 in February 2019, and 11 religious rallies were held in March 2019.
The report adds that a contingent of ICT Police also took part in Pakistan Day Parade (23rd March 2019). The Chairman Joint Chief of Staff acknowledged the role of ICT Police in ensuring law and order in the capital city.
According to the report, no scandal or mishandling by ICT Police was registered in the last eight months. Whereas, ICT Police registered 1112 First Information Reports (FIRs) and detained 1239 accused in drug cases.
The ICT Police marked 447 land grabbers and 11 facilitators while enlisted 11 land grabbers in the 4th schedule including notorious land grabber Taji Khokhar. It registered 126 FIRs, arrested 395 accused and recovered 28 pitols, 07 Klashnikovs and 10 Short Guns.
As for the departmental actions, the police took action against 30 officers because of poor performance and transferred inefficient officials including 26 Deputy Superintendent Police, 23 SHOs, and 6 Superintendent Police.
ICT Police set up an Internal Accountability Unit (IAU) to ensure check and balance by appointing well-reputed officials in the unit. The IAU received 589 complaints out of which 583 were resolved while 6 were in process.
DIG Operations and Zonal SsP are conducting Khulli Katechari to redress the grievances/complaints of general public. A new PCRS System was inaugurated byIGP on 12th February 2019 at Rescue-15, Sector G-8/4. State-of-the-art system has been put in place and complainants from all over Islamabad are coming to register their complaints. It received 9739 complaints through the PCRS system, redressed 8982 complaints while 771 are being processed.
The Capital Police received 7223 complaints through Prime Minister Performance Delivery Unit and redressed 6579 complaints while 658 are in process. The ICT Police formed a support email ID in Chinese and English languages, under the name of IGP at your service. It received 350 complaints via this email and sorted out 334 complaints and 16 are pending.
On the pattern of KPK police, Dispute Resolution committees have been established in each police station. The report also maintains that the police took many initiatives in the said period. These steps included re-organization of police check-points, same-day driving license printing, Gender, and Child Protection Unit, good citizen portal, dedicated Police Assistance Line (PAL) 8787, and traffic e-challan.
In recognition of the performance of ICT Police and sensitization of educational institutions about hazard of drugs, a renowned education institute of Lahore, The Choueifat International School invited W/IGP as a Chief Guest in a Seminar against drug abuse on 11-03-2019. IGPwas invited as a chief guest in “International achievements” awards distribution ceremony at Roots Millennium School on 25 April, 2019.

International Women’s Day
International women’s day was celebrated on 8th march, 2019 at Police Lines Headquarters, Islamabad in collaboration with OXFAM. Ministers and other dignities attended this mega event. According to OXFAM, the function was acknowledged internationally and was declared as one of the best.
Health Camp
On request of IGP, Health screening camp for Islamabad Police personnel was inaugurated by Federal Minister for Health Mr. Amir Kiani and Minister of State for Interior Mr. Shehryar Khan Afridi on 10-04-2019. Entire force of 12000 will be screened for Hepatitis B, C, Diabetes, Tuberculosis and Blood Pressure.
Symposium on Gender Based Violence by ICT Police in collaboration with Rozan
ICT Police in collaboration with ROZAN and Ministry of Human Rights held a successful symposium/seminar on Gender based violence on 11-04-2019 at Police lines Headquarters in which Minister of State for Interior Mr. Shehryar Khan Afridi and Minister for Human Rights Dr.Shireen Mazari graced the occasion.
