KIEV: Exports of Ukrainian agricultural and food products to European countries in 2017 grew by over 37%, or by US$1.6 billion, to $5.8 billion. In 2017, the foreign trade turnover of agrarian and food products between Ukraine and European countries increased by 30.8%, or by $1.9 billion, to $8.1 billion, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva said, as reported by the ministry’s press service.In addition, the growth in exports to the EU countries is a sign of the successful reorientation of most of our agrarian exporters to new markets after the loss of the Russian market,” the official said.
According to Trofimtseva, the major staples of Ukrainian agriexports to the EU market in 2017 were grain crops ($1.7 billion), vegetable oils ($1.4 billion), and oilseeds ($1.1 billion). The deputy minister noted that the list of Top 5 trade partners of Ukraine in the EU includes the Netherlands with a share of 18%, Spain (14.3%), Poland (13.2%), Italy (12%), and Germany (10.5%).
