Ukraine’s trade representative sees no obstacles for trade with Russia

KIEV: Ukraine’s Trade Representative Natalia Mikolskaya told Channel 5 on Tuesday that she saw no problems in trade with Russia.

“I will tell you as trade representative – we need currency earnings. And if we say that in the existing situation we want to have revenues, then I see no problems in our selling goods to the Russian Federation,” Natalia Mikolskaya said.

The trade representative also noted that a tendency was seen towards Ukrainian enterprises’ focusing on new markets instead of countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS, a loose alliance of former Soviet republics).

“We are seeing month by month that enterprises that used to be oriented historically or because of the geographical position or those that used to be part of a production chain, they are reorienting,” she went on. “We see that products that used to go only to the CIS market or to Russia, now go to new markets,” she added.
