KIEV: Prospects for cooperation in agricultural sphere were mulled as Ilham Guliyev, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Agriculture Minister has met a delegation led by Sergey Taruta, member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, AzerTag state news agency reported.
Guliyev hailed Azerbaijan as historically agrarian country where 40 percent of the population works in agriculture sector. He praised the country’s rapid economic development and achievements in agricultural field.
Touching upon a wide range of works in agricultural sphere in the country in the line of European standards, he stressed the importance of having a high level of cooperation in the agricultural fields, as in other areas between the two countries.
Guliyev emphasized the importance of using the experience of Ukraine gained in the agrarian sector as well as the both countries’ import and export potential. He also noted the significance of signing agreements on establishing agro-parks, promoting agro-business investments in the field of plant protection and scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries, as well as in the veterinary field.
Sergey Taruta, in his turn, said that he would spare no effort to expand ties between the two countries in the field of agriculture.
