NORTHUMBERLAND: Police charged one man and seized more than $20,000 worth of cocaine here the other day.
Cobourg Police Service and OPP executed three warrants at an address near the downtown area of Cobourg and in Alnwick/Haldimand Township.
During the search police seized 216 grams of cocaine, valued at $21,600; three and a half oxycodone pills, valued at $280; 21 grams of marijuana, valued at $210. Police estimate the total street value of drugs seized at $22,090. Cash in the amount of $2,495 was also seized as property obtained by crime.
The warrants resulted in one arrest and another person is expected to turn themselves in to police.
Stephen Finnemore, 27, of Cobourg, was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Mr. Finnemore was released with a future court date.
The Ontario Provincial Police and the Cobourg Police Service actively pursue any information which could lead to the arrest of anyone distributing illicit drugs. The importance of executing warrants such as this reduces the amount of illicit drugs on the streets of Northumberland County, police said.
