DUBAI: Brazilian footwear exports to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have declined in amount, total value, and average price per pair. August and year-to-date numbers made public this Friday (9) by the Brazilian Footwear Industry Association (Abicalçados) show that total export revenues went up in August and year-to-date.
Abicalçados reported that from January to August, USD 11.7 million worth of shoes were exported from Brazil to the United Arab Emirates, with 1.2 million pairs sold at USD 9.44 per pair. Revenues dropped 25.3% from USD 15.7 million in the comparable period of last year. The amount exported fell 9.6%, with the average price shrinking by 17.4%. During the period, the UAE ranked 11th in the list of top buyers of Brazilian shoes, trailing, in this order, the United States, Argentina, France, Bolivia, Paraguay, Colombia, Chile, United Kingdom, Peru and Australia.
Saudi Arabia was the 12th leading importer of Brazilian footwear, at USD 11.4 million, down 27.2% from USD 15.7 million through August 2015. The amount shipped was 1.3 million pairs at USD 8.45 a pair, down 11.2% and 17.9%.
