At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.76%. The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB), which rose 1.58% or 135.00 points to trade at 8660.00 at the close. Meanwhile, AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) added 1.35% or 72.00 points to end at 5416.00 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW) was up 1.23% or 3.00 points to 247.50 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which fell 4.67% or 37.00 points to trade at 755.50 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 3.94% or 11.35 points to end at 276.60 and BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) was down 3.31% or 39.00 points to 1140.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1083 to 855 and 428 ended unchanged. Shares in AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) rose to all time highs; up 1.35% or 72.00 to 5416.00.Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.06% or 0.78 to $1245.92 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.45% or 1.09 to hit $43.34 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.20% or 1.03 to trade at $45.88 a barrel. GBP/USD was down 0.94% to 1.2618, while EUR/GBP rose 0.73% to 0.8815. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 97.49.
