AMMAN: The northern military command, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and the Military Security Department, foiled an attempt by 4 people to smuggle large quantities of drugs.

A source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army said that the northern command detected four people trying to infiltrate from Syrian into Jordan, adding that the rules of engagement were applied forcing the smugglers to flee back into Syria.

“Following a search of the area, 3 bags containing 244 palm-sized sheets of hashish, 775, 000 Tramadol pills and 149,000 Captagon pills were found and were referred to competent authorities”, the source added.

The military command also foiled an attempt by 5 people to infiltrate Jordan from Syria. The border troops applied the rules of engagement arresting one of them and injuring another while the others fled back into Syria.
