KARACHI: Two security guards were shot dead outside the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) office in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi on Monday.
The guards, affiliated with a private company, were shot at multiple times by men riding a motorcycle. They were working at the FBR office for the last 15 years. The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Hospital.
Sindh home minister Sohail Anwar Siyal has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the Karachi police chief.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shaukat Ali, two guards had been wearing clothes resembling the police uniform, raising suspicions that the attackers may have mistaken the two men for being police officials.
The police have been a target of similar attacks in recent months, with a new group that calls itself Ansar-ul-Sharia Pakistan claiming responsibility for multiple shoot-and-run incidents in the city.
Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) A.D. Khowaja also took notice of the incident and ordered a probe into it.
