KARACHI: Customs officials have arrested two passengers at Jinnah International Airport for trying to smuggle gold worth more than Rs100 million.
According to a Customs officer, the passengers were carrying three-kg gold, for which they had not paid the applicable duty.
Deputy Collector Customs Wasif Malik said that 3kg gold was recovered from the accused. Malik said duty is imposed on carrying gold in considerable quantity and the arrested passengers were carrying it secretly, which is illegal. A case has been registered against the duo and further investigation is underway.
