ANKARA: Turkey has outlined measures to drive national aerospace and defence (A&D) exports as it looks to a target of international sales of USD2 billion per annum by 2018. Ankara published its defence sales support proposals in the 2017-2021 International Cooperation and Export Strategic Plan, which was released this month. The paper is an adjunct to the broader 2017-2021 Strategic Plan of the Turkish Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM), which was also published this month.
Turkey said that during the five-year period it will create financial support mechanisms to encourage international sales, use diplomatic channels, focus on a more integrated approach to international co-operation, encourage the defence sector to use export subsidies more effectively, and drive greater Turkish activity in collaborative NATO programmes.
