NEW YORK: Toyota is going to launch mid-size sports car, potentially to be called Supra, and is likely to cost more than a base Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which runs for about $55,000.
If this is true, then Toyota is talking about some serious power output here. If it wants to charge this price, then buyers are going to rightly demand performance. Around 400 horsepower coming from a turbocharged V6 paired to an electric motor sounds realistic. RWD has already been confirmed. Now, the question is how much will BMW’s version cost? After all, BMW is a premium brand. In other words, the as-yet-unnamed BMW sports car can’t serve as a Z4 replacement, but more likely a competitor to the likes of the Jaguar F-Type. BMW will surely make full use of its carbon fiber expertise to keep weight down as well. Bottom line: neither car will be considered affordable, but their performance capabilities should more than make up for it
