PESHAWAR: The Customs Station Torkham foiled an attempt of smuggling 43 Tola gold into Afghanistan via Torkham Border on Wednesday.
A tip-off was given by Collector Customs Gul Rahman to the customs staff posted at the Torkham Gate to check the activity of a traveler Rahmat Ullah who was on his way to Afghanistan.
The value of the impounded gold is Rs2.2million in the international market. The accused has been arrested and an FIR registered against him under the Customs Act-1969.
There has been a sequence of seizures of gold by the customs station in the month of December which has earned the revenue of millions for the customs exchequer.
