KARACHI: Three ships, Maipo, Sea Delta and Maran Gas Delphi carrying containers, 7,483 tonnes Chemicals and 61,000 tonnes LNG were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Friday.
Meanwhile three more ships CMA CGM Amazon, Uni Florida and Lion-M with Containers and Furnace oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday morning.
Fifty nine percent berth occupancy was observed at the port Thursday where a total of ten ships namely, Maipo, Chang AN, Lanka Jaya, Kiran Marmara, Ql-Xiang-22, YM Miranda, Sea Delta, Maran Gas Delphi, SC Brilliant and Brizo are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Animal Feed, Coal, Soya Bean Seeds, Chemicals, LNG, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively.
A cargo volume of 167,111 tonnes, comprising 152,937 tonnes import cargo and 14,174 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,993 containers (TEUs), (12,47 TEUs imports and 746 TEUs exports) was handled at the port.
Four ships, Maipo, Lanka Jaya, Ql-Xiang-22 and SC Brilliant sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while Bulk cargo carrier Kiran Marmara is expected to sail on same day in the afternoon.
A total of five ships, CMA CGM Amazon, Uni Florida, Ruining-2, Sakizoya Elegance and Malmo carrying Containers, Coal, Canola Seeds and Palm oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-4 FAP and LCT respectively on Friday, while two more ships APL Antwerp and Safmarine Nyassay are due to arrive at PQ on Saturday.
