ISLAMABAD: The Tax Reforms Commission chairman, Syed Masood Ali Naqvi, has formed 11 committees on the basis of terms of reference for the commission.
The committees will consult the business community and experts to for their recommendations regarding tax reforms. Conveners for the committees have been nominated. Naqvi will head two committees; Tax Policy and Direct Taxes and Indirect Taxes.
Conveners for the other committees are: Ashfaq Tola for Sales and Excise Duty, Ramzan Bhatti for Custom Tariff Retention and Border Security Force, Abid Shabaan for Administrative Tax Reforms and Tax Facilitation Administrator, Mirza Qamar Baig for Automation of FBR, Farrukh Jawad Panni for Dispute Resolution, Bashir Ali Muhammad for Issues and Challenges of Major Business Houses, Muhammad Abdul Aleem for Foreign Investors Issues and Challenges while the conveners for Issues and Challenges of Chambers of Commerce and Industry will be the presidents of chambers of Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta and PML-N Member National Assembly Mian Abdul Manan. The list of remaining committees will be finalised soon. Members showing interest in another committee will be considered keeping in view their experience and opinion of other members.
