ISLAMABAD: A tax survey has been instigated in Islamabad to register restaurants, hotels and guest houses with the sales tax department.
Sources said that officers will physically inspect all markets and well-to-do locations in Islamabad. The tax survey is expected to register many unregistered restaurants, where sales tax has been charged from consumers, but never dropped to its end, they added.
Regional Tax Office (RTO) Islamabad would assign Inland Revenue officers to verify all such accountable to be registered with the sales tax department, sources said, adding that special teams would inspect all unregistered restaurants and exercise powers of the Sales Tax Act 1990 for their obligatory registration.
For their proper monitoring, the jurisdiction of restaurants, hotels and guest houses has been assigned to Commissioner Inland Revenue, Zone-II RTO Islamabad.
