ISLAMABAD: A three-member bench of the Supreme Court will hear three tax references on Monday involving field offices of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
A Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Maqbool Baqar would hear the tax references involving Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation and Model Collectorate of Customs.
Amongst the cases, customs duty reference was filed by Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation against Muhammad Rafique, a sales tax reference was filed by Collector of Customs, Sales Tax and Central against M/s Haji Mehmood Essa Corporation and others and another customs duty reference was filed by Collector Customs against M/s People Enterprises. It is pertinent to mention that these cases were filed during 2010-2011.
Meanwhile, on Friday the same bench heard cases filed by chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, Islamabad, against Abid Hussain and others; a customs duty matter filed by M/s Al-Haj Enterprises (Private) Limited against Collector of Customs Model Customs Collectorate, Islamabad; a sales tax matter filed by commissioner Inland Revenue, Zone-I, RTO, Islamabad against M/s Dancom Pakistan (Private) Limited.
Earlier the bench had heard cases filed by some other petitioners. These cases were filed by collector of sales tax and the collector of Customs, Peshawar. Collector of Sales Tax Customs House Lahore had filed cases against Sumpak Paper and Board Mills Limited, Malik Food Industries Limited, Jubilee Paper and Board Mills Limited, Transpak Electro Industries (Private) Limited and Minaco Fabrics Limited.
The bench also heard a customs duty case submitted by collector of Customs, Peshawar against Wali Khan & others.
