ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) took serious notice of irregular auction of 200 mobile sets without obtaining Type Approval Certificate (PTC) from Pakistan Telecommunication Authority by the superintendent Intelligence and Investigation, Sukkur.
FBR directed the directorate of Intelligence & Investigation concerned to take action and submit the comprehensive reply.
It is important to mention here that according to Federal Board of Revenue’s letter no. 1(1)/SM16(E&C)/2013 dated 2nd February, 2014 addressed to all collectors and copy to DG, intelligence and investigation FBR, Islamabad, that Customs shall ensure that terminal equipment such as mobile handsets and tablets are not allowed to be imported without PTAs Type Approval Certificate.
Further according to rule 32(2) (a) of 12/2002 dated 15th June 2002 the custodian on receipt will check the seized goods according to the quantity, description, quality and also the packing to ensure that they have been received in original condition and are free from defects.
The superintendent, intelligence and investigation, Sukkur, auctioned 200 mobile set, access control terminal and technical sounder, without obtaining Type Approval Certificate from PTA that was required under law and rules. This resulted in irregular auction of mobile sets and other terminal equipment having reserve price Rs166,464.
