COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake last night have arrested four individuals including an Indian national who were attempting to smuggle out gold bars worth over Rs 2.1 million.
Customs officials said the four suspects had attempted to smuggle 387.81 g of gold bars worth Rs. 2.133 million to India. Three of the suspects are Sri Lankans while the fourth is an Indian national according to the officials. Customs spokesman Sunil Jayaratne said the four suspects were released after imposing fines of Rs. 10,000 each.
