MADRID: Sales of dried fruit, nuts and snacks have grown in Spain for the seventh consecutive year, showing a slight acceleration in 2016, according to sectoral analysis company, Observatorio Sectorial DBK de Informa. At the close of 2016, provisional sale figures were €2.2 million, 4.3% more than 2015.
The dried fruit and nut segment had the most positive performance, achieving a market value of €860 million in 2016, after increasing 5.5% compared to the previous year.
The sales increase was due to favorable economic circumstances and investment in innovation, the company said.
The dried fruit and nut segment has been very dynamic in foreign markets in recent years. In 2015 exports grew 40%, while imports increased by 30%.
