MADRID: The Customs mounted a vigilance operation after the first package was detected. The Customs have arrested four British nationals, aged between 19 and 39 years old and resident in the municipality of Cehegín, north-west Murcia in relation to the shipping of cannabis oil between Spain and the UK. The group were suspected to be shipping the oil in parcels between Spain and the UK, specifically Wales, using a courier service.Having detected drugs in one parcel, investigators monitored the shipments sent out from Cehegín and fitted a video camera in the shipping office. It wasn´t too long before they detected two further shipments, which were first identified by sniffer dogs before being inspected by drug squad specialists.
The packets were retained and it wasn´t long before the intended recipient contacted the courier company enquiring after the parcel, thus providing the final link required in order to arrest the group.
Cannabis oil is very rarely found in Spain and it transpired that those arrested had the technical capacity to manufacture the oil themselves in Spain and then ship it out to the UK. The substance is a hard resinous mass and is highly potent.
