LAHORE: The customs officials have confiscated about 184 costly mobile phones from a passenger coming from different countries to Lahore.
Sources told Customs Today that the officers of Pakistan Customs Preventive conducted operations in the flights coming from Abu Dhabi to Lahore and other countries as well.
The flights were coming from Abu Dhabi to Lahore, Dubai to Lahore, China to Lahore and other countries as well. The customs team checked the luggage of passengers and found a huge number of cell phones hidden in bags. Sources told Customs Today that passengers were allowed to go after initial investigation in all the actions. The value of the cell phones is in hundreds of thousand rupees. The accused attempted to cause national kitty a huge loss by smuggling the said consignment.
Meanwhile during actions in different flights, customs staff recovered 16 bottles of alcohol. The customs allowed all the passengers to go after the confiscation of alcohol bottles from their possession. The customs has also seized one LED of 32 inches from a passenger.
The security officers have launched an investigation into the matter. The customs has started strict checking of the luggage of the passengers, especially coming from European countries. Smuggling bids are being frustrated by the customs authorities. A number of attempts of smuggling of mobile accessories and other relevant items have been aborted by the customs during these days.
Strict checking of the luggage of the Huj passengers also continues to avoid any mishap in the Huj operations.
