KARACHI: Six ship-C.V Maipo, M.V Going Yin-1, M.V MG Earth, M.T Lion-M, M.T Epic Sardinle and M.T Coroan – carrying containers, 40,139 tonnes coal, 66,000 tonnes soya been, 70,420 tonnes furnace oil, 6,554 tonnes LPG and 30,550 tonnes palm oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal Mult-Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal on Thursday. Meanvhile five more ships, C.V CMA CGM Amazon, M.T Thor Gas, M.T IVY Galaxy, M.T Carlus Magnus and M.V Athos with containers, LPG, palm oil and steel col also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at sixty five percent on Thursday where a total of eleven ships were Maipo, MSC Busan, Yuan Jing, Tiger Hongkong, Going Yin-1, Han Ren, MG Earth, Al-Jassasyan, Epic Sardinle, Whte Purl, Lion-M, were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, canola seeds, chemicals, LNG, LPG, edble oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours, Cargo handling remained during last 24 hours, at 102,538 tonnes, comprising 78,997 tonnes import cargo and 23,541 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,061 conainers (TEUs), 822 TEUs imports and 1,239 TEUs exports was handled at the Port.
Container vessel ‘Maipo’ sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships, Gas carrier Al-Jassasyah and Chemicals Epic Sardinia are expected to sail on same day in the after afternoon. Three ships C.V CMA CGM Amazon, C.V Uni Florida and M.T Tom Gas carrying container and LPG are expacted to take berths at Container Terminal and Engro Terminal respectively on Friday, 15th September while three more ships C.V Safmarine Ngami, C.V Bremen Belle and M.T Mezaira carrying container and diesel oil are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday September 16,2017.
