KARACHI: The Sindh government has instructed the trade bodies not to pay the contributions of the Workers Welfare Board to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as the said subject has been transferred to the province, Customs Today learnt.
In this regard, Labour and Human Resources Department Secretary Abdul Rasheed Solangi has forwarded a letter to the trade association like FPCCI, KCCI, KATI and SITE, informing them about the decision.
“The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has been authorised to collect the contributions under the head of Welfare Welfare Board. Therefore, from now onward, the contributions may be deposited with the Sindh Revenue Board instead of the FBR,” sources added.
Under the 18th Constitutional Amendment, the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution falls under the jurisdiction of the Sindh government; therefore, Sindh is authorised to collect the workers’ contribution instead of the FBR.
