SIALKOT: The Regional Tax Office (RTO) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected Rs 1,200 million during May 2016, surpassing the collections of the corresponding period of the last year by 125 million.
The RTO collected taxes under the head of sales tax, income tax, withholding tax and federal excise duty (FED) during the period. It collected Rs 1,030 million under the head of taxes in May 2015.
Meanwhile, the RTO received 392 returns under Voluntary Tax Compliance Scheme (VTCS) collecting Rs.33.023 million since its launching.
It may mention here that the government has extended the deadline for reduce rate of withholding tax on banking transaction for non filers June 30.
An official here at Sialkot RTO said that the department was taking effective measures in order to achieve the assigned revenue target. He hoped that target will be achieved by the end of current fiscal year.
