SIALKOT: The government has decided to take stern legal action against the owners of all the showrooms of cars and motorcycles and property dealers involved in illegal sale and purchase of the cars, motorcycles and properties (commercial and non-commercial) across Punjab.
According to the senior officials a vigorous crackdown was expected by the E&T Department within next couple of days, in this regard.
The special recovery teams of the Excise and Taxation Department have started special recovery campaign for ensuring the early recovery of the registration fees and taxes from them as well.
The officials added that the provincial government will also bring the owners of all the showrooms under the tax net across Punjab for recovering the professional tax from them as well after ensuring their early registration under the supervision of the local District Excise and Taxation Officers across Punjab.
E&T Teams will collect Rs.50,000 (refundable)as security tax from the owner of every showroom and Rs.10,000 annual professional tax from the owners of every show room of cars, motorcycles and property dealers (located in the urban areas) and Rs.5000 annual professional tax from the owners of such showrooms located in the rural areas, in this regard.
The senior E&T officials added that the E&T teams have also started the new survey of these showrooms in Gujranwala Division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts , saying that stern legal action would be taken against those owners of such showrooms for not getting their showrooms registered with the Excise and Taxation Department, in this regard.
