SIALKOT: The Model Customs Collectorate has collected Rs10.469 million in the wake of import, rebate and export duties.
Sources told Customs Today that the department has surpassed revenue target under the head of customs duty made by during the last year to the tune of Rs8.533 million. Sialkot region had collected Rs29.65 million as customs Import duty during December 2016 which is Rs5.31 million more than the Rs3.333 million collection of the same period of last year, 2015.
Sources added that Sialkot Customs collected Rs8293.1 million as export duty whereas Rs60 million cheques issued to exporters. The department was striving to achieve the revenue collection target under all heads for the running fiscal year 2016-17.
Sources also denied the impression that customs officials received customs duty in advance from the importers in order to meet the targets. Federal Board 0f Revenue (FBR) has to revise the revenue collection targets sometimes keeping in view the unfavourable circumstances, adding that tax collection was increasing every year due to effective policies of the department. Collection of said revenue is much better as compare to first four months of current fiscal year.
Sources told that the export and import from Sialkot dry port trust is increasing day by day and it will much better. Sources told that the department making good name in collection of revenue and achieving target. Customs Collector Ahmed Reza Khan and other officers taking keen interest to achieve target whereas fruitful results are observing day by day.
