SIALKOT: The Customs Collectorate Appraisement wing collected Rs 1,022 .88 million under the head of duty and taxes from August to October 2016.
Principal Appraiser Abdul Hameed told Customs Today that Collector Sialkot Ahmed Reza Khan, taking keen interest in revenue collection, instructed all the departments to increase revenue collections under all heads in order to strengthen the national economy.
He said that under the supervision of Collector Reza, the Customs Appraisement collected Rs 780 million as sales tax, Rs 122.88 million in the shape of customs duty and Rs 120.2 million under the head of income tax during the period.
He said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has not yet assigned target of revenue collection target to MCC Sialkot. The principal appraiser added that the appraising department got permission from the collector to send notices to defaulter of taxes and duties.
The defaulters will have to face stern action after November 30, 2016 if they failed to clear outstanding dues. Deputy Collector Waheed Anwar Abro showed satisfaction over the collection of revenue, adding that handsome amount of duty/taxes will be collected in ongoing month of November.
The department will take stern actions against defaulters as per Customs Act, 1969. He said that the Sialkot Customs has good relations with exporters and importers of the region, adding that the department has to take action against those who show reluctance for the payment of duty/taxes.
