SIALKOT: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Sialkot has impounded three vehicles, including Hino Truck and Dumper Truck and the other unidentified third one, and goods worth Rs9.5million from February 1 to February 8, 2017.
The official sources told Customs Today that on the directions of Assistant Collector Ali Mohatsham Minhas, Superintendent Sardar Manzoor constituted a team to check the smuggling attempts. The ASO team consisted of Inspector Ali Hassan and Constables Muhammad Arshad, Rafique and Rehmat.
The team impounded three non-duty paid vehicles valued Rs8.5million under Section 157/58. The vehicles were used for smuggling purpose. The vehicles were brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes. Iranian smuggled Rani Juice worth Rs.230000 and other goods valued Rs550000 including duty taxes and other items like cumin seeds and cloths worth Rs.300000 were also taken into possession. All these items were brought into country without payment of customs duty and taxes.
The Anti-Smuggling Organization asked the accused persons to produce the legal documents of customs paid duty but they failed to do so. The ASO impounded vehicles and other smuggled items under Import and Export Control Act-1950 punishable and customs laws under Section 156 (1)89(i) 90 of the Customs Act-1969. Legal notices have been issued to the owners of impounded vehicles and other smuggled items.
