KARACHI: Shipping activities at a private terminal, South Asia Pakistan Terminal Limited, affiliated to Karachi Port are going on as usual after a short pause on Monday evening when ten containers fell into the sea as a result of minor accident between two ships.
An anchored ship MY Tolten was slightly hit by another ship MV Hamburg during berthing process at the terminal. However, KPT vessels and its mariners, supported by Pakistan Navy diving team, cleared the channel and restored ships movement, said a KPT statement on Tuesday.
MV Tolten , after off-loading and loading containers at SAP terminal, is scheduled to leave the harbour tonight. Another ship MV Humburg is also expected to depart as per its schedule. The containers were being recovered from the sea.
A board comprising senior officers of KPT, SAPTL and Ministry of Ports and Shipping has been formed to investigate the incident.
