KARACHI: Three ships Mediterranean Bridge, MSC Maeva and Newark carrying Containers were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal on Monday.
Meanwhile three more ships, MSC Busan, Kong Que Song and Reem-3 carrying Containers, General Cargo and Bitumen also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. Berth occupancy was reported at the prot at fifty three percent on Monday where a total of nine ships namely editerranean Bridge, MSC Maeva, Newark, Pan Oceanis, Kirri Billi, Epic Sardina, White Purl, Kano and Al-Khattiya were occupied at berths to load/offload Containers, Rice, Canola seeds, LPG and LNG.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 139,153 tonnes, comprising 112,270 tonnes import cargo and 26,883 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,583 containers TEUs), (2,268 TEUs imports and 1,268 TEUs exports) was handled at the port.
Gas carrier ‘Kano’ and Container vessel ‘Mediterranean Bridge’ sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships ‘MSC Maeva’, ‘Newark’ and Epic Sardina are expected to sail on same day. A total of six ships, Maersk Memphis, MSC Busan, Alexandia, Reem- 3, Horizon and Glorious carrying containers, Bitumen, Palm oil and Furnace oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1, LCT and FOTCO respectively on Tuesday, while bulk cargo carrier ‘Fareast Honesty’ carrying 50,100 tonnes Coal is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day.
