KARACHI: Three ships M.T Brizo, M.T Dae Won and M.V Bulk Polaris carrying 67,967 tonnes Furnace oil, 14,000 tonnes Palm oil and 33,895 tonnes Coal were all berths at FOTCO Oil Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Monday.
Meanwhile three more ships with Containers and Coal also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was observed at the port at 53% on Sunday where a total of nine ships namely Nicoline Maersk, APL Hawall, Bulk Polaris, Sinar Kutal, Nicosia Pegasus, Mid Fortune, Dae Won, CTG Bismuth and Brizo are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Coal Rape Seeds, Chemicals, Palm oil and Furnace oil respectively. Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 139,601 tonnes comprising 101,202 tonnes import cargo and 38,399 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,255 Containers (TEUs), (234 TEUs imports and 2,021 TEUs exports was handled at the port. Two ships, APL Hawall and Mid Fortune sailed out to sea on Monday morning while another ship Nicoline Maersk is expected to sail on same day in the afternoon.
Five ships Mediterranean Bridge, X-Press Malaku, MSC Asya, Kook Yang Singapore and Ocean Prefect scheduled to load/offload Containers, Sand and Coal are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1 and PQEPTL respectively on Monday, while Bulk cargo carrier W.Pacific is due to arrive at PQ on same day and two more ships APL Miami and Warisa Naree carrying Containers and Coal are due to arrive on Tuesday.
