KARACHI: Brick Shipping was recorded at the Port where six ships Maersk Atlanta, Oriental Rose, Gaslog Skagen, Stolt Viking, Able Sailor and Harmony-1 carrying containers, 1,900 tonnes soya bean oil, 143,500 cubic meters LNG, 2,000 tonnes chemicals, 28,000 tonnes palm oil and 67,940 tonnes furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
Meanwhile four more ships Han Yi, Chemstar Stellar, Khor Gas and Calimere carrying General cargo, palm oil, LPG and coal also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. Sixty three percent berth occupancy was observed at the Port on Tuesday where a total of ten ships namely, Maersk Atlanta, MSC Tomoko, Al-Bahia, Qing Hu Shan, Oriental Rose, Wel Hero, Stolt Viking, Gaslog
Skagen, Able Sailor and Harmony-1, were occupied PQA berth to load/offload containers, coal, canola seeds, soya bean oil, chemicals, LNG. palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A record cargo handling was achieved at the Port on Monday where a cargo volume of 193,161 tonnes, comprising 138,422 tonnes import cargo and 54,739 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,233 containers (TEUs) ( 1,352 imports TUEs 7 2,881 TUEs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.
Chemicals carrier Stolt Viking and edible oil carrier Oriental Rose sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while container ship Maersk Atlanta is expected to sail on same day afternoon.
Five ships Maersk Stepnica, Torrente, Han Yi, khor Gas and Clipper Viking carrying containers, project cargo, LPG and chemicals are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1, SSGC and EVTL respectivwly on Wednesday, 12th April- 2017, while another container vessel CMA CGM Nervel is due to arrive at Port Qasim Thursday, 13th April-2017.
