KARACHI:Brisk shipping was recorded at the Port where six ships, Marie Delmas, Lowland Amster, Secon-7, Rainbow Island, YM Saturn and British Emerald carrying Containers, Coal, Palm oil, Chemicals and LNG were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-purpose Terminal, Port Qasim Electric Power Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively during last 24 hours.
Meanwhile five more ships, Al-Soor-II, Meltemi, Red Eagle, Gas Esco and Amadeus carrying Diesel oil, LPG and Soya Bean seeds also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same period.
Berth occupancy was observed at the port at 59% on Wednesday where a total of ten ships namely, Marie Delmas, MSC Heidi, Daranee Naree, Panorama, Lowland Amster, Secon-7, YM Saturn, British Emerald, Rainbow Island and Constantinos are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Cement, Soya been seeds, Coal, Chemicals, LNG, Palm oil and Diesel oil during last 24 hours.
Cargo handling during last 24 hours remained at 141,414 tonnes, comprising 87,532 tonnes importcargo and 53,882 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,243 Containers (TEUs), (949 TEUs imports and 2,294 TEUs exports) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
Oil tanker ‘Constantinos’ sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships Marie Delmas, MSC Heidi and YM Saturn are expected to sail on same day in the afternoon. A total of five ships, Prosper, APL Antwerp, Secon-8, Gas Esco and Quetta carrying Containers, Steel coil, LPGand Furnace oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1, EVTL and FOTCO respectively on Thursday, 22nd February.
While three more ships CMA CGM Virginia, Athenian and Hansa America are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday.
