KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the port where four ships, Priority, Maine Dream, Milana Qatar and Meltemi carrying Container, Steel coil, LNG and Diesel oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-purpose Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
Meanwhile two more ships, General cargo carrier Zi Jing Song and Container vessel CMA CGM Georgia also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. A total of eight ships namely, CMA CGM Narmada, Priority, Genava, Maine Dream, Sakizaya Wisdom, Tiger Pioneer, Milana Qatar
and Meltemi are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Rice, Steel coil, Soya been seeds, Coal, LNG and Palm oil during last 24 hours. A cargo volume of 157,839 tonnes, comprising 101,986 tonnes import cargo and 55,853 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,933 Containers (TEUs), (1,487 TEUs imports and 2,446 TEUs exports) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
Container vessel CMA CGM Narmada sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while Container ship Priority is expected to sail in the afternoon.
Five ships, CMA CGM Georgia, GH Chinook, Torrente, Virgo and Caravos Liberty carrying Container and Coal are expected to take berths at QICT and PIBT respectively on Friday. While five more ships, APL Hawaii, Nicoline Maersk and Jo Pinari are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Saturday.
