Shipping activity at Karachi Port

KARACHI: The Karachi Port witnessed brisk activity on Friday and handled 119,095 tonnes of cargo including 3,082 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours. The total import cargo of 80,043 tonnes comprised 18,170 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14 tonnes of general cargo; 23,114 tonnes of bulk cargo: 17,569 tonnes of coal; 5,545 tonnes of DAP and 38,745 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 39,052 tonnes comprised 15,880 tonnes of containerised cargo; 270 tonnes of general cargo; 11,902 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,392 tonnes of cement; 10,510 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 11,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,082 containers comprising 1,391 containers import and 1,691 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There are six vessels viz APL Seattle, MSC Levina, Ever Pearl, Eships Liwa, Chang Hang Hong and Wilma carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There are two ships namely Posan and Hyundai Bangkok carrying containers sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely Kota Gembira, Northern Prelude and Hansa Africa carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.

There are three vessels viz Wan Hai-512, BBC Plata and Shorthorn Express carrying containers, general cargo and cows respectively due to arrive on Friday, while another vessel viz MT Karachi carrying oil tanker is due to arrive on Saturday.
