KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) suspended notice issued by Inland Revenue (FBR) to central leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and sister of former president Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur and Zardari Group, seeking details of agriculture land’s taxes.
On August 09, 2019, a two-member bench also issued notices to officials of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and directed them to file their para wise comments on next date of hearing. Court also restrained them from any coercive action against petitioner regarding recovery of said land.
Earlier, senior advocate, Barrister, Khalid Javed argued for Faryal Talpur and Zardari Group that his clients have a peace of agriculture land in Nawab Shah which is dispute and matter is pending before the Sindh High Court between families of Zardari.
He further argued that however, officials of the Federal Board of Revenue issued notices to petitioners and sought complete details of owners of said disputed land and taxes, he submits that until final decision of Sindh High Court regarding ownership of said disputed land, FBR’s officials have no legal authority to issue notice to his clients.
Citing chairman Federal Board of Revenue and others as respondents, counsel pleaded the court may declare that act of the respondents is illegal, mala fide and arbitrary.
Khalid Javed Khan also pleaded the court may suspend operation of said notice and pass interim order and restrain them from taking any coercive action against the petitioner till final order in this petition.
