KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices to the customs department and deputy attorney general on a petition filed by M/s Unique Enterprises seeking unblocking of its NTN, CCIE and user ID blocked by Collector of Customs Appraisement West.
On November 22, 2018, a two-member bench, headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi heard the matter.
During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner stated that the petitioner is engaged in manufacturing, importer, exporter of textile and other goods and import different types of textile and other goods for manufacture of finished products which is fluff pulp in this case.
He submitted that petitioner is aggrieved by the actions of the respondents being a government functionary, who have illegally blocked the user NTN, CCIE and user ID of the petitioner which serving any show cause notice as required under the law and without giving the petitioner an opportunity of being heard despite the fact that the petitioner is active under the Sales tax act, 1990.
Citing Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, Collector of Customs Appraisement East, Collector of Customs Appraisement West, Collector of Customs Quetta as respondents, importer pleaded the court to declare the blocking of NTN, CCIE and user ID of the petitioner without issuance of show cause notice and without opportunity of being heard is illegal, mala fide and void.
He further pleaded the court to direct them to immediately unblock the NTN, CCIE and user ID of the petitioner’s company.
