KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has sought comments from tax authorities on a constitutional petition filed by M/s Shujauddin against the tax recovery notice of Rs 1.97 million for the year 2015.
A two-member bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Muhammad Humayun Khan, was hearing the petition.
Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that petitioner is paying all liabilities regularly and running his business according to the law. However, the tax authorities issued a show cause notice to him for recovery of Rs. 1.97 million.
According to the petitioner, being aggrieved, it filed an appeal before the authorities concerned along with a stay application which are pending. However, the tax authorities issued notice to the bank manager for remittance of the money.
Citing Sectary Revenue Division, Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals V), officers of the Inland Revenue Unit-2 Zone V Withholding Taxes Regional Tax Office, Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue Withholding Tax Zone 1 and others, the petitioner pleaded the court to restrain the tax authorities from recovering the said amount.
