KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ordered Customs to release consignments of hair oil, balm etc deciding the issue of license for the import of hair oil and pain balm.
A SHC appellate bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Yousuf Ali Sayeed, was hearing a petition filed by Honse Trading whose consignments were detained by the Pakistan Customs on ground that import of the items require license from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).
Ghulam Hyder Shaikh advocate appearing for the petitioner argued that the imported items are herbal or natural products and does not fall in the category of medicines for which license from DRAP is mandatory.
The counsel also referred to dozens of identical cases and judgments passed therein praying to the court to order release of the consignments as per rule of consistency.
The bench allowing the request ordered release of the consignments holding that no license is required for the herbal or natural products.
