KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted urgent application and continued interim order passed earlier on a constitutional petition filed by M/s Shangrila Private Limited against impugned demand notice of disputed amount of Rs. 27,122,880 issued by deputy commissioner Inland Revenue Enforcement & Collection Unit Zone-IV Large Taxpayers Unit.
Earlier, court had restrained tax department from enforce recovery of said disputed amount. A two-member bench, headed by Justice Munib Akhtar heard the petition.
During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner, informed the court that the petitioner is engaged in the business of manufacturing, possessing, buying, selling, packaging of various foods items and fulfils all the liabilities properly, however, above mentioned tax department issued a notice for recovery of disputed amount which is already subject matter pending before concerned appellate forum.
Citing chairman Federal Board of Revenue, Secretary Ministry of Law, commissioner Inland Revenue, Zone-V, Large Taxpayers Unit-I and Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue Enforcement & Collection Unit Zone-IV Large Taxpayers Unit as respondents, counsel pleaded the court may restrain them from taking any coercive action.
