KARACHI: Sindh High Court has ordered the Customs authorities to release a soap consignment.
A SHC appellate bench, comprising Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Arshad Hussain Khan, was hearing a petition filed by Shazik Enterprises which imported a consignment of soap which was detained by the Pakistan Customs after a valuation dispute.
The importer filed the goods declaration and sought clearance of the consignment as per Valuation Ruling but the authorities demanded and assessed the consignment at enhanced rates determined by the Director Valuation. As the bench has already suspended the enhanced value in many cases, the bench ordered the release of the consignment without even issuing notice to the custom authorities.
