QUETTA: Ashraf Ali, Collector, Model Customs Collectorate, Quetta, has given a seven-day time to the owners of petrol pumps and dealers of the NDP vehicles to stop the illegal business otherwise raids will be execuated against alleged sale of smuggled petrol and evasion of taxes.
According to details given by Ashraf Ali, Collector, Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Quetta, that the Federa Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has issued a notification to take strict action against the showrooms of the Non-Customs-Paid (NDP) vehicles working under the jurisdiction of the MCC Quetta. He added that the MCC Quetta has formulated a policy to take firm action against the dealers involved in the selling and buying of NDP vehicles.
The FTO further ordered the collectorate in the said notification to put coordinated efforts into the plan against the petrol pumps selling smuggled Iranian diesel and petrol at various places of Quetta and other parts of the province of Balochistan.
He warned of the sealing of pumps and showrooms if they were found involved in the tax evading business. Some of the security officials also told Customs Today that some petroleum marketing companies are also involved in the smuggling of Iranian oil and diesel. The official added that the government must take action against such companies too. A truck owner alleged that oil tanker drivers have to pay hefty sums in bribe to the officials of Pakistan Customs.
